Introducing another one of the incredible editors on our team, Gustavo Villela ! We are excited to collaborate with Gustavo and look forward to all of his incredible work.
I was motivated to join Spheres of Influence because I have always been interested in international relations and news and I wanted to remain involved somehow after graduating from university. While writing has always seemed interesting to me, being an editor would be a new experience. I also like Spheres of Influence's values and principles and am proud to contribute to it.
Even though I have only been an editor for three months, I have learned a lot in that short time. I have learned a lot directly from the writers and their published articles but I have also learned how to be a more?critical reader. Being an editor requires a different mindset than that of a writer or reader.
My favorite article has been Qiu Guan’s article on Canadian mining companies in Latin America not only because of its meticulous research but also because my graduate school application was on that same topic so it seems that we were both writing on the same topic in the year 2022.
For now I am content with simply being an editor and reading articles on international relations. I would love to read some articles about popular culture and how it is connected to politics.
Of my many many hidden skills, I am most proud of my ability to move my ears on command.
