Douglas Hervey joined Cicero in 2019 bringing with him deep functional expertise in research, advanced analytics, strategy, operational excellence, and transformation. As a Partner at Cicero and the firm’s healthcare and private equity lead, Douglas’s work has helped organizations with acquisition strategy and post-merger integration, M&A pipeline development, market expansion, new product launch, new service development, price optimization, customer experience design, market optimization/sales transformation, and customer retention.
Douglas has worked on over 200 healthcare private equity investment deals, within 80 unique healthcare sub-segments, for over 40 investment funds. Douglas has also assisted many leading Fortune 500 health systems, payers, technology, medical device, and pharmaceutical companies deliver patient and consumer value through payment and deliver reforms. His thought leadership has been featured in the Harvard Business Review and Health Affairs.
In a recent client engagement for a large integrated delivery network, Douglas learned that ~50% of behavioral health emergency room visits nationwide could be avoided through adequate pre-ED telehealth screening.
Prior to his work at Cicero, Douglas began his career practicing law in Washington, D.C., representing a number of large medical device, pharma, and health systems. During 2010 and 2011 he worked for innovation expert Harvard Business School Professor Clayton Christensen on value-based care and collaborated with several healthcare and technology startups. He has also worked as a Director at The Beacon Group where he specialized in market entry strategy, competitive analysis, and the commercialization of new technologies. Most recently, Douglas worked as a Senior Director for Leavitt Partners, where he enabled healthcare entities to enhance their product and service offerings and make sound growth-oriented strategic and investment decisions. Since 2020, Douglas has been serving on the board of Mexico-based kidney care provider, Médica Santa Carmen, supporting their leadership in growing their clinic footprint and providing needed kidney care access to underserved communities.
Douglas earned his Bachelor of Science in International Relations at Brigham Young University, after which he earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of Pittsburgh. Douglas also holds an MBA from Brigham Young University, where he was a Hawes Scholar.
