Meet David Hayman, VP, technology

Can you please describe your role with TruSight and what led you to this career path?

As VP of technology, I run the technology department, which covers technical project/platform management, infrastructure (cloud and enterprise),?development, security and data analytics. My first love has always been technology. Prior to joining TruSight, I held a variety of operations and technology roles ranging from software engineer at a defense company to the head of operations at a fintech derivatives exchange.

What is your team culture like?

In the technology department, we place a strong emphasis on ownership and responsibility. Individuals are trusted to solve problems and tackle challenging projects in the way they feel is best, with senior team members available to guide as needed.

In addition, we prioritize inclusivity, communication, continued learning and, most importantly, fun, whether it is going to escape rooms or playing virtual “scattergories.”

How have you grown professionally while at TruSight?

During my time at TruSight, I have been given the opportunity to be exposed to new technology by building our fully cloud-hosted platform. I have also had the amazing experience of finding and hiring some of the best technologist I have had the pleasure of working with in my career.

What is your favorite part about working for TruSight?

I most enjoy being part of a company that is innovating and building the next generation of third-party risk management (TPRM) products and services.

What is the most unique part of working at TruSight?

The chance to work with cutting-edge technology and a world-class team.

Which benefits/perks are your favorite and why?

TruSight’s work-from-home flexibility has changed my life. I get to see my daughter most days and help put her to bed. However, if I am in the flow, I can continue working for as long as I like without having to worry about what train to get home.

What is a project/initiative you were proud to be a part of?

I was immensely proud to be part of the team that delivered our brand-new custom-developed platform in just 10 months, with no major migration issues, which was an incredible achievement by all involved.

What has been your biggest accomplishment?

Building the technology strategy and department from scratch.

How is the industry changing? How does TruSight help companies adapt during this evolution?

Industry is going through a digital transformation. TruSight is pioneering new tools, products and services to help customers make the adjustment as seamlessly as possible, including our custom data products, assessment request optimization process and consumption API for integration.

What do you think will be the biggest trends in the industry over the next five years?

Automation. Every aspect of the TPRM process is being scrutinized to improve efficiency and enable risk professionals to focus on the data that matters. Technologies like artificial intelligence (AI) and natural language processing (NLP) are starting to be used within the financial services industry with the aim of reducing the time it takes to conduct an assessment, which is a huge win for both the customers and the vendors being assessed.
