Meet Darren Walker

From Customer to Newest Employee

Earlier this year we welcomed Darren Walker as our newest Project Manager.

Before coming to us, Darren was previously Operations and General Manager for Perkins Group Services Ltd - a longstanding Aspin customer - for over 20+ years. In his time at Perkins, Darren project managed the implementation of a number of Aspin projects and championed our B2B sales solutions within the Perkins business.

Darren is well known by many of us at Aspin and has always been a joy to work with; in part because of his admirable ‘get the job done’ attitude. The recommendation Nathan wrote for Darren on his LinkedIn page says it all.

“We have worked with Darren on numerous IT projects over a more than 20 year period. He was always able to quickly articulate the requirement/problem, from both a practical and operational perspective, and then acted as an efficient and can-do client-side Project Manager. Some of the projects we worked on were wide ranging and complex, and did not necessarily go to plan from the start. However, Darren's pragmatic and positive attitude, made him a pleasure to work with.”

After some time away from Perkins, a position within our Projects team came up. The knowledge Darren has of the Aspin products, alongside his previous experience of working alongside the Aspin team, made the decision to hire Darren a no-brainer.

Darren brings with him a strong commercial background and a unique understanding of our customers’ side of the story, which we know will add value to our projects.

Darren says he’s looking forward to working with the whole Aspin team to deliver our customers a great service and a positive implementation experience. The challenge of learning the implementation process and applications from the other side excites Darren and he looks forward to developing his skills further.

When not at work Darren lives in Bournemouth with his wife and two daughters. And soon an additional member of the family in the form of the adorably cute Chocolate Labrador, Otis!

At weekends Darren can usually be found performing ‘Dad’s Taxi’ duties to and from dance and drama classes, cooking on the BBQ, or paddle boarding at Mudeford on the south coast.

Darren also enjoys watching films, football and cricket. He’s just invested in a portable pizza oven for home and has promised to bring it into the office on a Friday lunchtime soon! We just need some warm weather!
