iFX EXPO:?Tell us a bit about your company! When was it founded? Where are you based???

CMC Markets dates back to 1989 and was founded in London as a CFD and financial spread betting provider for the retail market. Over the last 35 years, there has been significant evolution, including a London stock market listing, signing the FX Global Code and the rapid growth of a market-leading institutional division, CMC Connect. In 2023, we took the decision to move a key part of this operation to the Middle East, acknowledging the significant growth opportunities held in the region, as well as allowing us to leverage its superb geographic location which helps us cater to those fast growth counterparties located right across the Eastern hemisphere.

One key stand out is the strength of our technology, which has largely been developed and maintained in-house. That’s enabled us to deliver against some truly demanding ambitions when it comes to creating a one-stop shop that genuinely supports clients of all sizes in terms of multi-asset market access using cutting-edge financial technology. We see it as a process of continuous evolution – for example, we’re close to launching a strengthened API offering that will offer even greater flexibility when it comes to using our services.

Richard Elston, Ahmed Soliman, Abdulkader Daghestani and Artur Deliergiev who work out CMC Connect’s Dubai will be in attendance, whilst London-based head of Institutional Sales, David De Juan Sardina will also be travelling to the UAE.

iFX EXPO:?Do you have news or releases coming out that you would like to share??

Richard Elston, Group Head of Institutional:

Absolutely. As noted above we see our business as needing to evolve continuously, so our product development schedule remains intensive. We have just launched direct market access CFDs and our move into cash equities has also been incredibly well received amongst clients both in the GCC and further afield. That offering is currently limited to US stocks but we will be adding more markets here in the coming months, starting with the UK. We’re also building out a Futures and Options suite which will be deployed as an on-market offering over the popular CQG and TT front ends, as well as allowing counterparties to trade options directly with us on an OTC basis.

iFX EXPO:?What are your expectations for this year's event? What do you hope to achieve by participating at iFX EXPO Dubai 2024??

Richard Elston, Group Head of Institutional:

We have really high expectations of the show, which is a key driver in our commitment to exhibiting. The reality is that the market in Dubai is growing quickly, both in terms of catering to locally based counterparties as well as working with the ever-increasing number of international institutions who are moving into the region. The fact that we will be able to network with so many of these parties at a single venue over the course of two days should help further reinforce the market-leading position we’ve been building as an institutional counterparty of choice in the GCC.
