Meet the Cloud Tool You Won't Believe You've Been Living Without

The abundance of multiple off-premise, cloud-based software and infrastructure resources makes it easier for organizations of all sizes to choose new ways of providing and procuring IT infrastructure and application services. This additional flexibility and choice has enabled businesses to drive increased innovation, accelerate time to market and in some cases help reduce costs although this typically isn’t the primary drive.

However, with the benefits there are also come concerns. Specifically, these new services are procured and consumed without the appropriate levels of security, governance and risk management. This has occurred both with and without the involvement of the IT department, resulting in growing complexity, unauthorized “shadow IT,” loss of control and higher operational risk.

In a multi-cloud world, flexibility, choice, agility, time-to-market are key to be competitive. Equally, these systems must offer appropriate levels of security, availability and performance features and functions to meet the needs of the business.

Managing this hybrid IT environment is increasingly challenging given the multitude of on- and off-premise resources and services relied upon by end users. Orchestrating the services, assets and resources in these environments requires the right tools to ensure that multi cloud benefits can be fully realized.

Businesses need to be able to execute a cloud strategy that gives them the benefits of:

  • Agility – that enables rapid activation and lifecycle management system for new Services across Public and Private Clouds
  • Security – that ensures each Cloud Service is delivered to a consistent, pre-defined comprehensive security architecture and policy management system
  • Governance – that offers full transparency for Cloud Services consumption and costs across Multiple Clouds through a comprehensive analytics and reporting system
  • Cost Analysis – by offering consumption and financial metrics across multiple public and private cloud providers like a Kayak or Orbitz for a multi-cloud world

Companies need a way to aggregate multi-cloud services platforms that enable them to deliver, manage and consume cloud services through a simple, powerful user interface.

Look at how Orbtiz or Travelocity has done this in the travel industry to help consumers gain efficiency by searching all forms of travel in one place, visibility to a bevy of purchasing options, and the best savings when handing over your credit card.

Think about how easy managing all your services would be for you if you had a portal like Travelocity for the cloud.

  • You could manage your entire multi-cloud platform, including multiple on premise software defined data center and private cloud (hypervisor agnostic) and public options (ex. AWS, Azure), from a single pane of glass.
  • You could assess in real time which multi-cloud platform is right for your workload, based on cost, performance, security and compliance.
  • You could easily and instantly offer new cloud based services.
  • You could provision new services while being consistent and compliant.
  • You could manage life cycle actions on services.
  • You could report and monitor consumption and costs.
  • You could secure role-based access to reduce shadow IT.

Seriously though, if that idea sounds pretty awesome, watch this short video.

What do you think? It's kind of incredible, I personally haven't seen any offerings like this popping up. And I'm not just saying that because this portal is something Presidio created. I honestly wish I came up with this idea myself. It's that good.

What I think we can all agree on is that cloud adoption is only going to grow. There's a real opportunity here for you to get ahead of the curve and help make the cloud more easily consumable for everyone that wants it, that stays within your control. You just the right tools for the job.
