Meet Christian

Have you met Christian Ruprecht - our Co-Founder and CTO?

Let’s learn more about him:

What is your role at Northh Medical?

"I am responsible for the development of software and hardware and for the production of smart-sync."

What is a typical workday like for you?

"My typical workday starts around 6 or 7 am. I check in with my team at a daily stand-up around 9 am and after that my day is filled with meetings and calls. In between those I like to schedule myself time blocks in which I concentrate on certain topics, for example, development, research, or operations. My main focus at the moment is producing new devices. Due to the chip crisis, that is a little bit more difficult than usual, and I need to find some new solutions."

What is your favorite thing about your job?

"My favorite thing to do is solve problems in the lab. I enjoy discussing issues with my colleagues and finding solutions through hands-on work."

What is your Motivation?

"My daily motivation is my work. I enjoy developing new ideas and optimizing what we have together with a great team."

How did you come to found Northh Medical?

"Well, I always wanted to develop a product from start to finish. Be involved in the research, the actual development, and the production, all the way up to the sale of the product. The wish to build up a company kind of goes along with that. So, when Fabian had the idea of developing a product that would enable fetal cardiac MRI, I was very interested in making that into a business with him and reached out to Kai for his expertise. The fact that we would be producing something that would be able to make a baby’s life a little bit better or make the birth easier for the parents or in the long run have the potential to save someone’s life, was the motivation for all three of us to get this thing really going."

What do you do when you are not working?

"I love spending time with my family and doing sports. In the summer (or all year really) I go kite surfing and, in the winter, you can find me on my snowboard."

Where do you see Northh Medical in 10 years?

"I hope that in ten years fetal cardiac MRI is possible worldwide thanks to smart-sync. And I hope that Northh Medical will grow and we can expand our team and have the possibility to develop more products."

What have been your favorite moments at Northh Medical?

"The moment when we tested our very first prototype and it successfully screened Kai’s heart – that was a real breakthrough for us and a very proud and happy moment. And of course when my wife was pregnant with our first child and we were able to look at her heart thanks to smart-sync. That was also an emotional and significant moment for me."

What would you be doing if you weren’t doing this?

"When I was younger, I wanted to be a snowboard instructor in the winter and teach kite surfing in the summer. But then University kind of got in the way of that, so if I had stayed on that path, I would probably be doing something in the area of optical communication, which is what I got my doctorate in."

What would you choose? This or That?
