Meet Caxias do Sul the second largest metal-mechanic pole in Brazil

NBSO Southern Brazil visited the municipality of Caxias do Sul, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, being hosted by City Hall of Caxias do Sul, MOBICAXIAS, Universidade de Caxias do Sul UCS, Marcopolo, UCSGraphene, TecnoUCS.

Caxias do Sul is the second largest city of the state, with a population of over 500 thousand inhabitants and an area of 1,644 km2. It is located 127 km from the state capital (Porto Alegre) and is the Metropolitan Capital of Serra Gaúcha, whose urban agglomeration approaches 1,000,000 inhabitants.

Its solid economy is the result of more than 64,000 companies and 1,600 industries. The city is recognized as the second largest metal-mechanic pole in Brazil. It is also the second largest pole of plastics and its derivatives of the State with 643 companies that process it.

The municipality also ranks as the largest State producer of horticultural products and Micro Craft Breweries production. The horticultural products supply 2/3 of the Central Supply (CEASA/RS) demand in the Metropolitan Region of Porto Alegre, over 4.4 million inhabitants.

The municipality has as strategy the constant development, improving of competitiveness in the productive chains by identifying its bottlenecks through qualification, modernization and financing.
