Meet the Apprentice: Chloe

Thinking about an apprenticeship?

There are lots to choose from in the Civil Service – from Finance and Digital, to Project Delivery and Human Resources.

Meet Chloe – who is currently completing a Level 6 Project Management Degree apprenticeship, alongside her day-to-day role as an IT Delivery Manager at HMRC. Not only that, Chloe is also an active member of the Inclusion Action Group – promoting equality and inclusion in the workplace.

Chloe started her degree apprenticeship after completing her A-levels in 2021. Since then, she has worked in various roles and spent time with colleagues across the business to help her complete the wide range of apprenticeship modules.

Last year, she was nominated and shortlisted for the HMRC Apprentice Unsung Hero award in recognition of work she had done alongside her apprenticeship.

Chloe said: “I didn’t want to go to university. I wanted to go into work and earn a salary – but while also learning.

“I never expected to be in a degree apprenticeship – but I like the opportunities this has offered me. It has broadened my experience and helped build my working portfolio, whilst also being beneficial to my learning and the ability to answer degree questions with more understanding, as you’ve actually done the job.

“I am proud to say that I am apprentice at HMRC – and if anyone is thinking about enrolling onto the apprenticeship scheme, I would highly recommend it after my experience.”
