Meet Amy Daybird

The ‘Go To’ person.

The one thing you realize when working for printIQ is what a diverse mix of people make up this company, IQ has people that have been ‘Hands on’ in the printing industry as well as totally ‘Keyboard orientated’ folk. The synergy that comes from this diversity is of course quite amazing and provides unrivalled experience to a company like printIQ when dealing with customer issues.

There is one name that kept appearing in my emails threads when I first started at IQ and you could tell immediately that this person was central to the workings of a busy support team and someone that you could rely on to get answers, the IQ ‘Go to’ person.

Amy Daybird has been with IQ for around four years and resides in Brighton, Michigan, North America. She is one of IQ’s Support leads and is based in a time zone that has a worldwide reach from the US to Europe and Australia so the chances are she will be assisting you at some point in your journey.

Amy is the full package with experience that goes back to her days as a layout artist turning up for the midnight shift at a local printing company so as she could complete her college studies during the day. The printing company Thomson-Shore, saw a unique set of skills in Amy and offered her a transitional role to deal with the onset of the internet and website development.

Amy reflects “This transition to IT manager was something I thrived on, and it allowed me to develop coding skills that I still use today”.  Before she knew it, she was the ‘Go to’ person in the company for IT issues, sounds familiar?

Like many of the people I have spoken to in IQ it is that solid printing background knowledge that has helped them thrive in IQ because understanding how a company works is equally as important as the software to drive it. Understanding the relevance of a job quotation and its journey all the way through production to delivery is paramount in MIS.

“Being able to discuss the end-to-end process with customers instills a certain confidence and trust in you both” comments Amy.

To that end Amy relishes the relationships that she builds up with customers and the teams within IQ that she supports and gains a lot of satisfaction in delivering great working solutions.

“Seeing a customer Go-Live after months of preparation gives me a real sense of pride. Customers trust what you tell them, and a solid partnership develops quickly,” said Amy.

But life isn’t all about work for Amy and her husband have a blended family with five children and has become a grandparent three times over, so as you can imagine Amy relishes her spare time with her husband.

An enthusiastic outdoor person who loves to swim and cycle, she has also found the time to complete five triathlons. “We are lucky enough to live in a beautiful place with plenty of countryside to enjoy”. “When I’m not sorting out job tickets or grandchildren, I’m learning to play golf as well”.

Learning seems to rank very high on Amy’s list.
