Meet Amanda, our CoS
In a fast-growing, innovative company like ours, having a Chief of Staff (CoS) is essential to bridging the gap between strategy and execution. Amanda Eardley (she/her) shares her journey from Executive Assistant to CoS, the challenges she’s tackled, and what keeps her engaged at Immutable.
Before we get started with your time at Immutable. Why did you join us?
Honestly, it was two things. First, meeting James Ferguson in my initial interview – that really sold me. I just knew I wanted to work with him. He had such a clear vision and energy for where he wanted to take the company. The second reason was the culture I could see developing here. Talking with my talent acquisition contact ( Pea Lord-Doyle ) gave me a sense of how the company could grow. The foundation was strong, but there was also this sense of possibility and purpose. That combination convinced me what this company could become. I bought into that, and I still believe in it to this day.
What's your role, and how has it changed since you started?
I started as EA to the CEO, working closely with James on his most important goals. The company was at a stage where everyone wore multiple hats, so I filled in wherever needed – from office management to handling ESOP-related tasks. Because we didn’t yet have specialists for everything, I jumped into those gaps and handled generalist tasks.
Now, as Chief of Staff, my role has grown into something much more strategic. I’m heavily involved in OKR planning, supporting James on initiatives that need cross-team alignment and making sure we’re improving every planning cycle. My main job is really about lifting the load off James where possible so he can focus on the tasks that only he can do with his expertise.

What does a typical day look like for you?
No two days are the same, but we do have a structure that works for us. I usually start my mornings with focus time on my biggest goals for the week – typically, two or three priorities that need consistent progress. In the afternoons, it’s meeting mode. Working with a global team means I need to be intentional about connecting and collaborating, so afternoons are when we get together virtually or in person.
Right now, I’m overseeing the OKR process, which is in full swing. The goal is to make sure our strategic planning aligns everyone on realistic targets and continuously improves with each cycle.
How would you describe the culture at Immutable?
What’s kept me here is definitely my belief in the company’s vision and the people behind it. I feel like we have the best team in the space, with everyone truly aligned on our values and what we’re building. Plus, our leadership is extremely inspiring and trustworthy, and that’s huge. Also, I’ve had so many opportunities to grow in my role, which has kept me motivated to bring my best every day.
What’s one of your favourite things about working here?
The high-performance culture, without a doubt. We’re constantly solving challenges that are brand new, and that level of innovation is exciting. I get to work with the best team out there, and if you’re putting in the effort, it’s energising to be surrounded by people who are just as passionate and skilled.
