Meet Alli Malliton

Please join me in welcoming Alli Malliton to #TeamAuben. With her extensive multifamily experience and can-do attitude, I’m confident that she will help Auben grow through impactful expansion efforts, in some of our most exciting markets that are poised for dynamic growth. As you’ll see in this week’s REI News and Market Moves articles -“Rent Growth Is Hot in the Midwest” particularly in Kansas City. So, as we head into 2025, the timing couldn’t be better to have Alli on our team. Welcome aboard!


An Interview with Alli:

How did you get into the real estate profession??

I got into the real estate industry like a lot of my peers by chance.? I had just moved to Texas and I needed a job and a place to live, so I accepted a job as a leasing agent for the employment and a 20% discount on

?an apartment.? Little did I know at the time; I was going to have a wonderful lifelong career in the multifamily industry!

Who was your first mentor in real estate??

Tina Trotter taught me everything about multifamily in my first leasing job and how to manage a property.? Instead of just telling me to do something, she always explained why we do it that way or the importance of needing to do it.? She gave me more responsibilities than just leasing which is why I feel like I fast tracked into management.

Describe your new role at Auben.

In my new role at Auben, I will be focused on expanding the company’s portfolio by bringing on new multifamily and single-family units. My responsibilities will involve identifying and securing new business opportunities,

?building relationships with key stakeholders such as property owners, developers, and investors, and helping to grow Auben’s presence in the market.

Tell us a little bit more about DFW and KC markets. What’s to love?

What is not to love about both markets?? Both have their own unique culture, great barbeque and thriving NFL football teams.? Well, one of the football teams still has a lot of work to do but I am staying hopeful.

What do you feel are the biggest benefits / potential of investing in these markets for real estate investor clients??

Each market has its own unique strengths, they both offer great opportunities for investors to expand into multifamily and single-family units.

DFW offers massive scale, robust infrastructure, and significant investment opportunities thanks to its booming economy and rapid population growth.

Kansas City, on the other hand, offers more value for money, a growing economy, and a dynamic culture that can make it an appealing market for people who want an affordable lifestyle without sacrificing modern amenities.

I chose to join Auben because of the exceptional culture and the innovative, forward-thinking approach the company embodies. The team at Auben is made up of smart, motivated people who are not only passionate about what they do but also deeply committed to collaborating and supporting each other. It’s clear that there’s a shared vision of growth, not just for the company, but also for every individual on the team.

Is there an asset class that you primarily work with or that you enjoy?

I am not drawn to one asset class more than the other.? Not being drawn to a specific asset class allows me to have flexibility and adaptability in my approach.? By keeping an open mind, I can evaluate opportunities based on the market dynamics, our team’s strengths, and the goals of our organization rather than being confined to one specific type of property. This can be especially helpful when working across diverse markets like DFW and KC, where different asset classes may perform better depending on local conditions.

What makes a good leader?

A good leader is someone who listens actively and cares about their team members.

They encourage, motivate, and inspire their team.? They recognize individual contributions, offer constructive feedback, and provide opportunities for growth.

How do you embody that as a leader yourself???

It starts with intentional self-awareness and consistent action.? By taking the time to really listen to my team members, knowing what motivates them being there to help support them in anything they need to be their best.

What book or figure made the greatest impact on your professional life??

The Bible, not only in my professional but also personal life.? It has taught me to care about and accept others; to strive to be the best person I can be in all things that I do whether that is professionally or personally.?

Are you a real estate investor yourself? If so, why and what are your goals??

Not yet, but I would like to in the near future.
