Meet Alissa Mosca, Manager, Regional Operations

At age 14, Alissa Mosca found herself stuck.

Her soccer playing days had been put on hold because of foot surgery. She wanted to stay active, keep moving, and work on her wellness. Doctors wanted her on bedrest.

She had other ideas.

“I could ride my bike to the Planet Fitness, so I started working out there,” Mosca said. “Pretty soon, I had the PF Black Card?.”

She kept working out, eventually earning certificates in personal training and weightlifting. Even as her health and wellness journey took her to new places, the Planet Fitness club in Wappingers Falls, N.Y., remained her home base.

“I finally asked myself why not get a job there too,” Alissa said.''

“When your own moral compass aligns with the Company’s, what you do every day doesn’t feel like work; it’s more like this is what I do because this is what I’m passionate about.”

She started part-time as a member service representative and was very quickly promoted to manager-on-duty, assistant manager, and within eight months of starting, was managing the club.

“Whatever you put into the Company, it will come back to you,” she advises.

Now, a decade later, Alissa is the regional manager for the Hudson Valley North region. She has six clubs under wing. As she has moved up the leadership ladder, Alissa has worked to lead her people in the same manner she was coached.

“My regional manager was a great mentor,” she recalls. “They gave me the resources I needed, gave me room to flourish and someone to call if I got stuck.”

Newly married, Alissa stays active outside the club. She has two dogs that keep her busy. She also plays volleyball on Tuesday nights, enjoys attending concerts and pumps more than iron on the weekends.

“We recently had some flooding. We’ve got lots of house projects to keep us busy.”

Alissa never thought she would be working at Planet Fitness for so long. She thinks her longevity and commitment come from the close alignment of her values and the Judgement Free Zone.
