NEW YEAR MUSINGS

Now that 2024 is in full swing, here's what I've up up to:

?What I'm reading:

• ?The Cold Millions by Jesse Walter - this national bestseller is a turn of the 20th century novel set in Spokane. A riveting page turner about family, poverty, the American West, and a nation coming of age - complete with Pinkerton detectives, hobos, labor organizers, and crime bosses.

What I'm watching: (I've had another bout with Covid so I've been watching ... A LOT)

• ?Dead to Me -Thelma & Louise meets Rope by Alfred Hitchcock. Starring Christina Applegate, it's a compelling story that's ultimately about navigating grief and friendship. Yes, I watched all three seasons.
• Beef - a thought-provoking series about anger, relationships, and the Asian American experience. Actors Steven Yeun and Ali Wong deliver outstanding performances.

?Favorite Recipes:

• This nutty sweet potato soup from the Vegetarian Times hits the spot. I liked adding a lot of harissa.
• When Montana temperatures drop below zero (as they often do this time of year), this crockpot vegetarian chili from Weelicious is a family staple.

?My latest #onegreenthings:

• ?Trying out the Save Your Wardrobe app to "shop my closet."
• Using the Give Green website to support candidates across the country that support strong climate action.
• Recruiting 18 to 26 year-olds for the Climate Leadership Academy for my nonprofit OneGreenThing, a new online program about how our democratic institutions work and how environmental policy happens. Send young people our way!
