Saudi Aramco has received bids for the upgrade of the Karan offshore field as part of CRPO 144, involving the engineering and installation of a new jacket. This scope was initially part of a previously cancelled tender, CRPO 123, and is now reissued under CRPO 144. The contract, valued at $50 million, has seen multiple deadline extensions, with final bids submitted on May 13.

Ewec plans new independent water project
Emirates Water & Electricity Company (Ewec) is planning a new independent water project (IWP) in Abu Dhabi, with potential sites at Al Nouf or Taweelah, featuring a 90 MIGD seawater reverse osmosis facility. The Al Nouf location may necessitate a long pipeline linked to Abu Dhabi, involving the Abu Dhabi Transmission and Despatch Company (Transco). The project follows adjustments to Abu Dhabi's fourth IWP scheme and seeks to enhance the emirate's water security by 2028.
Hilton to build residential project in RAK
Hilton, in collaboration with Al Hamra, announced the launch of the Waldorf Astoria Residences Ras Al Khaimah, expected to open in 2026 with 43 luxury homes. This marks a significant milestone for Waldorf Astoria in the UAE, enhancing Ras Al Khaimah's high-end project portfolio as it targets 3.5 million visitors by 2030. The UAE's residential sector is set to grow by 2.6% this year, buoyed by private and government investments in housing.

QATAR:
Nakilat to operate nine LNG vessels for QatarEnergy
QatarEnergy signed agreements with Nakilat to operate nine new QC-Max class LNG vessels, each with a capacity of 271,000 cubic metres, to be constructed at China's Hudong-Zhonghua Shipyard. This is part of a $6 billion contract awarded to China State Shipbuilding Corporation for 18 such vessels. The vessels are integral to QatarEnergy's ambitious plan to maintain its status as the world's leading LNG exporter.
QatarEnergy to acquire Egypt offshore stakes
QatarEnergy will acquire a 40% interest in two Egyptian offshore blocks, Cairo and Masry, from ExxonMobil, who retains a 60% interest and operational control. The farm-in agreement is pending customary government approvals in Egypt. These blocks, awarded to ExxonMobil in January 2023, span about 11,400 square kilometers in deep waters.
