MedWise at MAPA/MAPS - 30/31st October 24
We are excited to announce that the MedWise team will be attending the MAPA/MAPS Summit 2024 on the 30th and 31st of October at the International Convention Centre (ICC), Sydney.
This, the 3rd Summit, is an incredible opportunity for Medical Affairs professionals to engage with peers, learn from thought leaders, and stay ahead of the trends shaping the future of our field. This year, the Summit will cover key topics in medical affairs strategy, innovation in evidence generation, patient engagement, and the evolving role of Medical Affairs.
As always, the event promises to be an inspiring two days filled with insights, networking, and practical takeaways. We cannot wait to meet both familiar faces and new colleagues at the Summit and discuss the latest developments in medical affairs.

Deborah Burnett (Group Leader at Garvan Institute of Medical Research; Senior Lecturer at St Vincent’s Clinical School): Discussing the role of academic and research institutions in vaccine development and the impact of collaborative efforts. Dr. Burnett's work focuses on understanding immune responses and using this knowledge to develop better vaccines, particularly through her research on B cells and immune mechanisms.
Gemma Figtree (Interventional Cardiologist, RNSH; University of Sydney; President Australian Cardiovascular Alliance): Exploring cardiovascular drug development and the significance of public/private partnerships in accelerating breakthroughs. David Thomas (Director Centre for Molecular Oncology, UNSW; Chief Science and Strategy Officer, Omico; Laboratory Head, Genomic Cancer Medicine, Garvan Institute): Presenting on the advancements in oncology through industry collaborations and the integration of genomic research. Prof. Thomas will elaborate on Omico PrOSPeCT program, a pioneering initiative in personalized cancer treatment, and the role of public-private partnerships in driving genomic cancer medicine.
Matt Zeller (Country President, Novartis ANZ): Industry perspective on fostering partnerships for innovative medicine development. Matt Zeller will discuss the advancements in Radio-Ligand Therapy (RLT) and Theranostics, highlighting how these cutting-edge technologies are transforming the treatment landscape and the importance of industry collaboration in bringing these innovations to patients.
