#MedtechRoadshow Chapter 1 - Respinova

The purpose is to expose Israeli healthcare companies raising capital in these challenging times.

Today we have with us - CEO cliff Ansel of Respinova which is developing a novel device to treat COPD.

Cliff, what is COPD?

COPD is a group of chronic lung diseases including emphysema and chronic bronchitis. It affects over 350 million patients and 3 million die from it each year. Much of COPD is caused by the collapse of small airways at the deeper parts of the lung. For the last 50 years, there have been few advances in therapy. Treatment for COPD today is primarily by inhaled bronchodilators. However, these drugs only target the upper airways and don’t address most of the problems.

And, what is your device?

Respinova’s Pulsehaler? uses patented multi-frequency air pressure pulses to directly re-open these collapsed small airways, thereby reducing breathlessness and improving the patient’s ability to walk. The technology was clinically proven in a clinical study and published in the peer-reviewed Journal of COPD. Our technology pipeline also includes patented designs for improving the delivery of inhaled drugs. This technology was clinically proven to deliver drugs more than 200% better to the deep lung than traditional nebulizers.

How did COVID-19 effect Respinova?

We are now in the process of raising a $10MM Series B. Because COVID has slowed down fundraising we recently decided we would open a bridge round in the interim looking to raise $1.5MM. We are close to submitting for FDA and CE and the B round would take us through launch in the US, Europe, and China, our 3 biggest markets.
