Scott Huennekens is a MedTech entrepreneur who I respect and have been fortunate enough to develop a friendship with.
He describes himself as a proud father of three, married for over 22 years, and hopeful grandfather of ten or more.
His medtech story as an entrepreneur and investor is also remarkable.
From successful Medtech CEO and Chairperson to board member, entrepreneur, and investor, Scott has been in one of those roles during his career through 20+ startups through their growth and 8 IPOs.
If you took all their market valuations they would be valued over $20B.
More importantly, he led teams to commercialize therapies and technologies that have helped over 20 million patients.
Scott made his mark with his leadership and entrepreneurial grit at Volcano Corp. (NASDAQ: VOLC), a leader in minimally invasive therapy guidance in interventional cardiology.
As its first & only President and CEO, he led the start-up in 2002 to its IPO in 2006 and sale to Philips in 2015. Volcano 2014 revenue was > $400 million and its market capitalization peaked at nearly $2B. Prior to this, he was at Digirad Corp, a diagnostic imaging solutions provider, from 1997 to 2002, as President & CEO. Digirad went public in 2004 (NASDAQ: DRAD).
Current professional affiliations include: Executive Chairperson Hyperfine, Inc. (NASDAQ: HYPR) IPO 2021, Chairperson Acutus Medical, Inc. (NASDAQ: AFIB) IPO 2020, Chairperson Envista Holdings Corporation (NYSE: NVST) IPO 2019, Board Member NuVasive (NASDAQ: NUVA), Executive Chairperson & Investor Wondr Medical , Chairperson of the Board & Investor KARDION , Board member & Investor, Q'Apel Medical Medical, Board member & Investor Proximie , Board member Foldax Inc. , CEO Advisor & Investor Genesis Healthcare, Board Observer & Investor 270 Surgical, advisor Brightinsight, Board Member & past Chairperson Medical Device Manufacturer’s Association (MDMA), and advisor to Peloton Equity, 8VC, River Cities Capital and Accelmed Equity.

I remember him talking about Med Tech 3.0 before most in our business could see even the lights of the freight train far off in the distance. He has his hands in so many different aspects of our business. Can’t wait to watch, as his perspective is usually spot on!
