MedMoNews: Health 2.0 NYC Reboot, Whispersom Wins, Co-working, Cinderblocks23 and Intersystems

Hey Folks,

What an amazing event we had last week! It was like the before times with everyone coming out to our Reboot Healthcare 2027 event. So great to see old friends and to make new ones. The really special thing about the people that come to our events is that everyone in the room is into fixing how healthcare works. Because we make our events free or low cost to everyone, there is a large proportion of startup founders, students and people in transition as well, which always increases the energy in the room. We opened with Manny Fombu MD, MBA discussing the Future of Healthcare from the perspective of a physician who works with big pharma and has done digital health efficacy studies, but also as a son and grandson seeing the effects of prevention.

Next we had pitches from WhisperSom Corporation by Michael G. Nathans , Pheme by Robert DeLeonardis and Fore Genomics by David Mihalovic . All did great and are winners in our book, but the team that received the most crowd validation was WhisperSom so they will be entered into our due diligence process with priority for inclusion in our Summer 2023 MedStartr Accelerator cohort. Teams that win our contests are considered for investment and acceleration by our venture funds and a package worth over $500,000 in cash and services perfect for early-stage healthcare companies. Since 2017 we have been accelerating companies like Valera Health , Care+Wear , DirectShifts , Mymee , Alertgy and more to good effect, helping create one of the fastest-growing group of companies in healthcare.

With about 90 minutes of networking, hundreds of amazing conversations were made possible and perhaps better thanks to the presence of healthy snacks and some not so healthy beverages. We also held the event in the Candid Offices, a space we would like to build into a healthcare innovation hub in NYC where we can events like this, co-working, training sessions and run our accelerator programs. The event ended with a quick presentation from yours truly on our MedStartr Labs Health Innovation Collaboration Center concept and then one of the best panels I have seen anywhere on the future of care. It included two patient activists, three CEOs, a Cardiologist, a Hospitalist, a non-profit founder, a Value Based Care expert, a leading podcast host, two big company leaders (Pharma and IT) and our keynote speaker. We try to make our panels as representative of all the stakeholders in healthcare and these are some of the smartest people in the space and in this case all represented at least two of what we looked for.
