Mediterranean Diet & Longevity
Debra S Austin, JD, PhD
Professor, Author of The Legal Brain, Keynote Speaker & Well-being Consultant
The Mediterranean Diet has long been deemed a healthy choice.? It is:
Researchers wanted to understand why the Med Diet improves longevity.? They followed 25,315 American female health care professionals for 25 years.? Data included diet, blood samples, and biomarker measurements.
They found that higher adherence to the Med Diet resulted in a 23% reduced risk of all-cause mortality.? These results were partially explained by healthier BMI and metabolism rates, and lower inflammation and insulin resistance levels.
Takeaway:? The Med Diet eating pattern is likely to improve health and increase longevity.
Well-being is a journey, not a quick fix.
