Meditation - Take Care of Your Mental Health

Meditation - Take Care of Your Mental Health

We often talk about our physical health. But hardly we talk about our mental health. We go to doctors for our physical health problems. Sadly, some of us even ignore that. However, the saddest part is that we do not have any good doctor in our country who can take care of our mental health. With the advancement of time, our life has become somewhat robotic. We are a generation full of stress and depression. So, I was looking for some tool that could reduce my stress, organize my thoughts and make me active and happy at the same time. And I found this tool that really helped me a lot.

The tool is Meditation. I have been trying to organize my thoughts for a while. In the professional world, it is mandatory to be organized. With more responsibilities, employees need to do multitasking. We all have priorities in their personal life as well. So, only an automated machine can do all these without emotions and tiredness. I have found that a 30 to 60 minutes a day meditation is your way to do everything smoothly, stress-freely and of course happily. I call this 30 minutes or 60 minutes time "ME TIME" which I owe to myself.

There is no specific time to do this meditation. But ideally, morning can be a very good time to do meditation. That way, you will feel energetic and motivated the entire day. As Muslims we wake up very early in the morning for prayers. So, after the prayer, we can do mediation for some time. Even if some of us do not wake up early or pray, they have to wake up early to meditate and/or do some physical exercise.

Some of the benefits that I have found after meditating-

1. Giving You A New Perspective of Life: When you meditate, you will see things that mattered to you so much in the past, will not matter to you anymore. You will know that your well being is the most important thing in this world. You will start loving yourself. You learn to respond to a situation better. Previously, you may have reacted to similar situations. Everything becomes easier with Meditations.

2. Managing Stress: As you get a new perspective of life, you learn to handle stressful situations better than you used to do before meditation. You get your thoughts organized. So, you respond to adverse situations in ways you never thought you would.

3. Reducing Negative Emotions: Meditation reduces negative emotions like anger, fear, jealousy, depression and so on. These are emotions that hold a person backwards. And meditation is a way to reduce these emotions.

4. Increasing Patience: Meditation increases your patience. You will feel calm in every situation. You will learn to let things go that is not in your control. You will increase your level of tolerance with the advancement of time.

5. Creating Self-awareness: We often do not know what kind of person we really are. Meditation helps you to evaluate yourself. This self-assessment is very important. It makes you aware of yourself. It also gives you ideas about how to respond to certain situations than to react. It helps you improve yourself as a person. So, in a way, meditation is a tool to find yourself and create a better version of yourself.

Some researchers suggest that meditation also helps us to get some of our physical problems fixed. Problems like- anxiety, depression, heart disease, insomnia even diabetes can be repaired and controlled with meditation. Even recently, it has been found in research that people who meditate are less likely to have deadly diseases like cancer or any brain strokes. So, just half an hour or one hour of "ME TIME" can fix your rest 23 hours. You can be happy while you work, you can be happy with your family, you can be efficient managing both, you feel confident, you can manage all your works just by gifting yourself some time of your day.

Before meditating, I was not a very organized person. After meditating, I have become much better in organizing. I can sleep well at night. I worry less about money, family responsibilities, work stress and so on. There are a lot of YouTube Channels that can help you start. After you get a start, you can do it on your own. So, invest this one hour a day meditation and work & live efficiently and happily.
