MediPharm Labs Achieves Export Milestone, Ships Cannabis Oil from Australia to Germany

Beyond Proud is the best way I can describe the way I feel about MediPharms Labs' most recent achievement.

Over the last year, MediPharm Labs signed a number of deals with German companies. I would argue Germany is one of the most regulated markets in the world. Exporting to the country requires compliance for product registration - requirements include:

• GMP certifications across the supply chain
• ability to provide drug substance sections – includes – Drug Master Files, Certificates of Suitability, other quality methods
• Stability protocols under EU guidelines i.e. real-time and accelerated data
• Laboratory alignment with monograph testing
• Input material (flower) cultivated and treated using approved pesticide and treatment conditions only

Just to name a few items...

Only a handful of companies have successfully exported to Germany due to the strict requirements for product registration. As of this week, MediPharm Labs enters the ring of companies that have successfully exported into Germany.

To date, MediPharm Labs have shipped over 12,000 units, with more expected to be sent out this month. This is the largest shipment of cannabis oil products to leave the Australian shore.

Here is a list of other Australian company's that have exported cannabis oil products outside of Australia: 

• Little Green Pharma French shipment (11 March 2021) - 4,800 units
• Althea Germany shipment (10 Feb 2021) - 2,000 units
• Cann Group U.K. shipment (22 Dec 2020) - Uknown amount
• Little Green Pharma Germany shipment (19 Nov 2020) - 2,400 units
• Little Green Pharma U.K. shipment (30 June 2020) - 1,000 units

The Medical Cannabis Network reports that the medical cannabis market in Germany is currently valued at between €150m and €175m, despite only around 10% of the 20,000 pharmacies in Germany selling medical cannabis products today. With greater awareness and education, the Medical Cannabis Network estimates that Germany’s dominance in the European cannabis market could expand to €1.5bn by 2025.
