How many of us woke up this morning, put on the kettle, drank our coffee, ate our breakfasts and made a conscious choice that everything we did at work today would be ... distinctly average?
It is far more likely that each one of us went through our usual routines and didn’t give it any conscious thought.
Which if you do bother to think about is quite strange.
Over the years, no one I’ve worked with has ever told me they think they are average ... not one!
On the contrary, most of us believe we are pretty special; even if in the UK this translates into the phrase, "not too bad".
So here's the oddity ... if we get asked "do we have any colleagues who are mediocre", we can almost always name at least one person!
Hence my question is "What is going on?"; "What criteria are we using to measure others that we are inconsistent in applying to ourselves and why do we do this?"
Let me know your thoughts?
