Medicinal AgroEcology

The concept of Medicinal AgroEcology (MAE), is a novel concept, launched by Dr. Immo Norman Fiebrig through his book "Medicinal Agroecology,

Reviews, Case Studies and Research Methodologies", to which I am proud to have contributed in Chapter 3 (free access), and written Foreword I. The publication offers many ideas and solutions based on the potential and power of medicinal plants for sustainability, based on a 360 degree, integrated view on the health of people, animals, plants and soils.?

Often personal experiences inspire and enrich professional endeavours. In my case it was a personal experience with Parkinson's disease, most likely triggered by exposure to pesticides, in combination with my professional career with Max Havelaar / fair trade and Solidaridad. I will tell you more about it in the time to come.

I want to thank Solidaridad, and especially Solidaridad Directors Nico Roozen, Dr. Shatadru Chattopadhayay and Jeroen Douglas for supporting and encouraging me in developing this concept further, conceptually and in practice. I also want to thank Dr. Suresh Motwani and his team for building the case for this with smallholder farmers in the state of Madhya Pradesh, Central India.

And I want to thank Dr. Immo Norman Fiebrig for this shared journey and the opportunity of contributing to the book as co-author to the lead article in chapter 3, Mucuna pruriens vs. Morbus Parkinson, Making the case for Medicinal Supplements within Medicinal AgroEcology, freely downloadable on Researchgate, with thanks to Solidaridad.

With this I announce a series of posts in the form of a LinkedIn newsletter on the MAE book and the different contributions.?

Hopefully it will contribute to the solutions the world needs to address the ever increasing sustainability and related climate change challenges, and to the health and wellbeing of many.

Feel inspired and invited to walk this journey with us.
