Medicare Turns 50

Medicare just had its 50th anniversary. The very first Medicare enrollee was former president Harry S. Truman. President Johnson wanted to honor Truman because Truman had attempted to bring about Health Care Reform as early as November of 1945, just after the end of WWII. Now Medicare, while far from perfect, provides comprehensive health care for our seniors age 65 and over.
