Medicare Opens 2024 ACO Applications in May

The Medicare Shared Savings Application process will be opening on May 18, 2023 for 2024 applicants.

Phase 1: May 18, 2023?-?June 15, 2023?at 12:00 p.m. (noon) ET

ACOs will submit:

• ACO Participant List (including executed ACO Participant Agreements)
• Form CMS-588 EFT Authorization Agreement
• SNF 3-Day Rule Waiver application
• SNF Affiliate List (including executed SNF Affiliate Agreements)
• Repayment mechanism (RM) documentation*
• Registration for the ACO Management System?(ACO-MS)

ACOs will select:

• Track and/or level
• Minimum savings rate/minimum loss rate*
• Beneficiary assignment methodology

ACOs will receive immediate beneficiary assignment estimates for each ACO Participant TIN at submission.

Key ACO application planning tasks will be:

• Defining network geographically and by provider type
• Drafting, finalizing, and distributing agreements for digital signature
• Defining Shared Savings Distribution model
• Selecting beneficiary assignment methodology and track
• Communicating to provider network the importance of HCC coding
• Communicating in-network strategies
