Why I Created the Medical Device Sales Professionals LinkedIn groups
Eight years ago I founded my first Linkedin group; The OR Lounge. After twenty-three years of working in the Operating Room and selling Orthopedic implants, I realized how important the staff lounge was to my success. I used the lounge for all kinds of things: sales presentations, in-services, networking— and for me– a place to gather my thoughts between cases.
My best accounts were often the ones where I spent the most time building relationships with the doctors, staff, and other sales professionals. By working side-by-side with the staff over nights, weekends and holidays we developed a mutual trust and respect. Over time this camaraderie allowed us to overcome challenging cases and enjoy the successes.
Initially, I was focused on getting the attention of the doctors and staff. However, I found there was an added benefit from casual conversations with other sales professionals. Before long, my perspective shifted. I was still focused on the decision makers, but I invested more time on building relationships with the other sales pros, and then, something unexpected happened.
These key relationships were instrumental in growing my business. We would share account information, best sales practices, and more importantly–we would become the eyes and ears for each other when in that hospital. Simply put, we worked together as virtual sales partners. And do you want to know the best part? Our clients benefitted as much as we did.
"the real heart of these groups is the community."
The truth is, the most accomplished people in any field have a system for success that includes solid relationships with like-minded people. As an outside medical device sales professional, I know what it’s like to feel alone in the field, especially when you want to share a success story, or you’re facing a challenging day.
That’s why I created the Linkedin groups. My goal was to re-create that sense of camaraderie within a community of trusted and respected colleagues that will help you to overcome challenges and enjoy the successes 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
However, the real heart of these groups is the community. You’ll be able to connect, share ideas, and get inspiration from others in the discussion area. In fact, we have a member’s directory–where you’ll be able to easily contact and connect with other members. Sharing best practices, ideas, and tips for being successful in this industry can be a tremendous benefit for you and your business. You’ll be part of a community of professionals who support and help each other by providing ideas and encouragement to succeed out in the field, and really impact your bottom line.
Whether you’re a seasoned medical device sales professional or just starting out, The Medical Device Sales Professionals family of Linkedin groups is the perfect way to help you take your game to the next level.
