MEDICAID AS A SOCIAL EXPERIMENT
Health Tech 4 Medicaid
We're on a mission to radically change the pace of innovation in Medicaid, improving quality, equity and access to care.
Medicaid, part of the Social Security Amendments of 1965, was established on July 30, 1965 as a social experiment to offer healthcare coverage to low-income individuals and families. The program was created alongside Medicare to address the healthcare needs of vulnerable populations, including those with limited financial resources.
As we celebrate the 58th birthday of Medicaid, we are reminded of the incredible journey that this vital program has undertaken since its inception as it has?grown to become a beacon of hope for vulnerable populations across the nation.
At Health Tech for Medicaid (HT4M), we are also marking a significant milestone as we enter our 5th year of existence later this year. Like Medicaid, HT4M began with a vision to address the healthcare needs of underserved communities and foster innovation in the field. We embarked on this journey as a change agent, committed to driving positive change and closing health equity gaps in the Medicaid ecosystem.
In this critical moment, we are reflecting on the fragility of Medicaid redetermination and the challenges faced by beneficiaries in maintaining their coverage. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has?stepped in to address violations , but we recognize that there is much work to be done to preserve the core mission of Medicaid and the lifeline of care it is for our communities.
HT4M is likewise embarking on its own journey of self-discovery. We are asking ourselves, our community, and the entire healthcare ecosystem, "Does HT4M matter? And are we making a lasting impact?" As we ponder these questions, we are driven by the belief that HT4M plays a crucial role in fostering an equitable health system. We are committed to the landscape of this transformative change, especially?in a time where nobody EVER used to mention Medicaid, and now it is seen an attractive part of the lingo.
Our webinars and in-person educational programs in key health equity areas, such as policy advocacy, sexual and reproductive health, maternal health, value-based care, and Medicaid redetermination, are making a tangible difference with record attendance. But we know that there is so much more to accomplish, and we cannot do it without your support.
Your engagement and contributions have been instrumental in advancing our mission. Your belief in the power of innovation and equity has driven transformative partnerships and helped us forge a path towards a more inclusive healthcare ecosystem.
As we move forward, we will continue to ask tough questions and see who will support us, seeking ways to amplify our impact and create meaningful change. We are filled with gratitude for your unwavering support, and we invite you to join us in this journey of discovery and empowerment.?Send us a note at?[email protected] .
Together, we can build a more equitable and inclusive health ecosystem.?Let us reaffirm our commitment to revolutionizing Medicaid and improving the lives of millions. Our determination is unyielding, and with your partnership, we can shape a brighter future for all.
Thank you for being an essential part of our story, we cannot wait to build the next chapter alongside and with you!
With unwavering determination,
