Mediation vs Meditation: A Journey Within the Octopus Movement.

How a Dyslexic mistake, created a new thought for me.

In the vast ocean of human experiences, two words often get intertwined due to their phonetic similarity - mediation and meditation. Despite being separated by just one letter, these two concepts carry profoundly different meanings. However, within the context of the Octopus Movement, they converge to create a unique pathway toward self-discovery and community connection.

Mediation: A Dialogue with the Self

In the conventional sense, mediation refers to the process of resolving disputes between two or more parties with the help of a neutral third party. However, within the context of personal growth and self-awareness, mediation can be seen as a dialogue with oneself. It's about reconciling the different aspects of our personality, our thoughts, and our emotions. It's about finding balance and harmony within ourselves.

The Octopus Movement, a global coalition of nonlinear thinkers, encourages this form of self-mediation. Nonlinear thinking, as defined by the movement, involves making connections between seemingly unrelated concepts. It's about drawing conclusions and developing ideas from experiences gained in a variety of different fields. This form of thinking is often found in individuals with neurodiversity, multipotentiality, and those who defy the norms of a nine-to-five world.

Meditation: A Pathway to Mediation

Meditation, on the other hand, is a practice where an individual uses a technique – such as mindfulness, or focusing the mind on a particular object, thought, or activity – to train attention and awareness, and achieve a mentally clear and emotionally calm and stable state.

The Octopus Movement's Global Mycelium Meditation event is a perfect example of how meditation can be used as a tool for self-mediation. This silent event, lasting for 30 minutes, is designed to help participants connect to the mycelium, the community within the Octopus Movement. It's a time to mediate with oneself, connect to one's true self without any linear expectations, and tap into the sea of consciousness.

The Octopus Movement: A Confluence of Mediation and Meditation

The Octopus Movement is a testament to the power of nonlinear thinking and the potential of individuals who embrace this mindset. It's a movement that recognizes and celebrates the unique abilities of atypical thinkers. It's a movement that believes in the power of diversity and the strength of a community united by a shared vision of creating positive change in the world.

The Octopus Movement encourages its members to mediate with themselves, to reconcile their diverse thoughts and experiences, and to embrace their unique perspectives. And it provides a platform for this self-mediation through the practice of meditation.

The Global Mycelium Meditation event is more than just a silent gathering. It's a journey within oneself. It's a time to mediate with your thoughts, to connect with your true self, and to tap into the sea of consciousness that binds us all.

In conclusion, while mediation and meditation may be different in their conventional meanings, within the context of the Octopus Movement, they converge to create a unique pathway towards self-discovery and community connection. So, join the movement, mediate with yourself, and connect with the global mycelium through meditation. Together, we can drive acceptance and awareness of the awesome abilities of atypical thinkers and create a better world for all of us.
