Mediation: Use of Agenda Meetings

Mediation: Use of Agenda Meetings

Dear Parents,

During the mediation, you will find that I will schedule you for several agenda meetings. The meetings are designed to focus on particular issues that you decide that you want to talk through. Agenda meetings may go over all the issues that are agreed upon or may delve into issues where everyone needs to listen, understand, and respond. Agenda meetings will typically last an hour or so.

The time between agenda meetings is a time to do some needed homework.

When you're feeling anxiety or conflict arising over issues that trouble you I want you to talk to one of our neutral team of professionals about matters concerning your children or your finances.

Parents have questions that need answers.

Typical questions parents have include the following:

  1. How do we talk to our kids about the divorce?
  2. How do we manage a budget for two households instead of one?
  3. What is an appropriate schedule for shared possession and access?
  4. Do we sell the home, refinance?

Going over your questions with a neutral professional means getting options that can be discussed when we all meet for our next agenda meeting. You will find that you can start problem-solving your way through the divorce process.

For every problem there typically are several answers to explore. Creating the best solutions for you and your family is something that we will, at mediation, create!
