I am confident that first aid mental health should not only be in the traditional sense.
As professionals, we must look at what mental health is, as physical, mental, psychological, emotional, and financial, and with all of the possible implications and variations that people allow us to see.
We are a sum of our parts, not simply one piece.
My view on this is that mental health needs to be acknowledged, and openly spoken about in a holistic, systemic way- and therefore, managed in a holistic way also.
Our mental health concerns need not be judged.
My mental health issues need not be compared to yours, my resilience and response to trauma and traumatic issues in the past are different. My understanding is different and so therefore (by default) so is my response.
I may not need a therapist/counselor, I may need a personal coach or mediator. I wonder why it is that when I broke my arm I was not expected to go to the eye clinic to have it fixed. We are different, and our views, perceptions, and realities are different, it only makes sense (in my view) that our mental health, responses are bespoke and empathic, Solutions as individual as we are.
Mediation supports solutions as individual as you
