Starbucks taps WPP to lead US creative
星巴克 has appointed WPP to oversee its US creative business following a competitive review by Joanne Davis Consulting.
WPP has brought in talent from subsidiaries Ogilvy, VML and Landor to handle the account as Team Starbucks.
Incumbent agency SPCSHP , which is owned by MSQ , IPG's FCB and Stagwell's Anomaly all pitched but missed out.
The agency change comes after Starbucks replaced CEO Laxman Narasimhan with Chipotle's Brian Niccol.
The coffee giant missed Wall Street expectations again with its Q3 results, bringing in revenues of $9.11bn rather than $9.24bn as projected as net sales fell 1% year-on-year.
“We are getting back to Starbucks, telling stories of our unmatched coffee expertise and reminding customers of the special experience that only Starbucks can provide," Starbucks said.
"We are grateful to partner with WPP as our creative agency of record in this journey."
