MEDIA RELEASE | Australia's LawTech Hub opens applications for 2022 cohort
Multi-award-winning Australian law firm Lander & Rogers has been leading the nation's legal innovation agenda since 2018 through its LawTech Hub. The firm is pleased to announce that applications are open for the hub's fifth program, which will kick off in the second quarter of 2022.
A select cohort of Australian and international legaltech startups will be whittled down from hundreds of applications. Over a six-month time frame, the group will solve real legal and business challenges using emerging technologies such as blockchain, AI, smart contracts, and process automation. The startups will also have access to the vast networks, experience, and expertise of Lander & Rogers.
Many of Australia's leading legaltechs are alumni of the LawTech Hub including legal automation and chatbot startup Josef; global networking and referral platform NEXL; blockchain-based smart contracts startup, beNEXT and cloud-optimised data synchronisation platform, Syncly.
The LawTech Hub has revolutionised the way that numerous law firms and large corporations do business and it has celebrated myriad success stories over the last several years including the 2021 acquisition of FamilyProperty by legal practice management software business Smokeball. FamilyProperty, who participated in the third LawTech Hub cohort, automates and streamlines time-intensive, manual, and error-prone elements of family law matters.
Going fully virtual in 2021 due to the global pandemic, the LawTech Hub was able to achieve many firsts. Indigenous startup Indigital, which specialises in technology development and digital skills training focused on industry 4.0 technologies, joined the cohort; as did the LawTech Hub's first international startup, London and Singapore-based Avvoka—a document-automation, negotiation and analytics tool. Adding an international startup to the mix contributed to Lander & Rogers' effort to drive foreign direct investment into Australia's legaltech sector. The hub also welcomed its first client collaboration project, working on real-world solutions for Lander & Rogers' distinguished client base.
Lander & Rogers' Chief Executive Partner, Genevieve Collins said, "Innovation is key to delivering the best law firm experience for our clients, in the services we deliver and in the way we deliver them. I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved in building the first LawTech Hub in Australia, connecting startups and scaleups with our people, clients, industry partners, the courts and other law firms."
For their work in the innovation space, Lander & Rogers has won, been named a finalist, and listed for dozens of awards including the Thought Leadership Award; Best Law Firm; Excellence Award | Excellence in Technology & Innovation; Most Innovative Asia-Pacific Headquartered Law Firm; Innovation Award; Innovator of the Year and Most Innovative Law Firms.
The LawTech Hub is now accepting applications to join its fifth intake of legaltech startups. Tap here for more details and to apply.
