Media Mogul Talks State of the Race, Changes in Journalism, Taxes, and the Economy

Forbes is one of the most widely known publications; and its creator, Steve Forbes, is one of the most respected and well-known names in business. Steve, the magazine’s Editor-in-Chief, came on my show, All Business with Jeffrey Hayzlett, to talk about his family business, the importance of family and his legacy in the business.

He started by talking about how ownership of Forbes has been passed down through his family and how he enjoys keeping the business close. The sense of pride he feels about having his family name so intertwined to the business was palpable during our conversation.

I also asked him what his business empire means to him and what does he think is the main purpose of his business. With him being a veteran in the journalism field, I also asked him about the ‘old world’ of journalism, how journalists have had to adapt in this new media landscape and what changes has Forbes had to make in order to keep up with the times.

“Grasp the tools that are out there, learn to use them,” Steve tells me as we discuss what it really means to be a journalist in today’s world.

Steve has been a Republican candidate for President of the United States twice and as a result, I asked him about the current political race. He shared his opinions on the state of the race, the economy, the path he took to get where he is now, and who his business role model is.
