The fourth industrial revolution has a big effect on marketing practices. New ways of content marketing have evolved. Consumers are flooded with content, especially on social media platforms. Therefor the biggest challenges marketers face is: How to engage consumers and grab their attention within seconds?
Content has to be highly creative, if it′s a video it has to be short and if it′s an image, it has to be something we′ve never seen.
The conventional way of creating and Ad was/ is still done in a studio set or a remote area. This requires a lot of labor, is expensive and offers little fleixibility. For example we can′t change lights, set or materials around a product after the shooting has been done. In other words it′s expensive, timeconsuming and complicated.
This is a 3D Render, a computer generated Image - the solution to the problems. With 3D Rendering, we can create content virtually within every desired setting, using specific computer software. This is not only cheaper and less time consuming, but offers endless creative freedom, designing content in new and innovative ways.
This solution works especially well for visual product merchandising. The process to create a product render is called digital staging. We can digitally stage products in a lifelike set or in a abstract setting.
But how to design 3D rendered media with excellent quality, which engages consumers and delivers the brand and product values?
1) When it comes to the quality, 3D artists need to implement the real lifelike proportions of a set into a virtual 3D model. A deep understanding of Archietcture and Space Design is required, to virtually design a set.
2) Design a lifelike lighting.
3) Work with high quality digital textures.
4) And choose realistic camera Angles.
Advertising and visual merchandising has evolved rapidly in the past years. In old days content would show solely a situational usage of a product e.g. the Campari Advertising from the late 19th century. But nowadays that is not enough anymore. Especially on social media platforms, consumers engage in content which is vivid, colorful and uses floating liquids as unconventional elements to showcase a product in more methaphorical ways.
Whether we digitally stage a product in a lifelike or an abstract setting, designers not only need to produce the content to be more outstanding, but rather give the content a deeper meaning. By deeply analyzing the product USP′s, target consumers and platforms of media release, we get inspired to produce an authentic media, which strengthens the brand and delivers the product values.
This is how it′s done: The LG Soundbar SL9Y was a product Viualab digitally staged in an Image for the CES Las Vegas 2019. Giacomo Mason, Artistic Director of Visualab and the Team were assigned to create 3D Images and a short Motion Graphic presenting the Soundbar in a lifelike set. Inspired by the meridian technology which immerses the consumer in a unique sound experience, the team created a material board around the colors and factes of sound.
Hard, soft, light and dark could stand for a sound. Then the sound was brought into a layout.
Hard surfaces and materials repell the sound from the Soundbar into the center of the room, where soft furnitures obsorb the sound. Each aspect of the LG SL9Y Soundbar with meridian technology was virtually implemented in the media.
Soft light was designed to highlight the product and create a welcoming feeling, visually immersing the consumer into the sound created by the device.
Finally, light, layout and materials complete the Image.
With only one time building the set, endless amount of Images can be extracted from any desired angle and in photorealism.
Bringing things into motion works highly engaging in advertising a product. Motion Graphic delivers a in depth and 3 dimesnionsal experience to the consumer. The following product Animation was created and inspired by the transparency of the LG Transparent OLED. Through it′s transparency, the device is in synergy with an object or physical product placed in the background by overlapping visuals. Transparency for the team ment, seeing beyond the current and the time. To design the product motion graphic around the Discobolus and the Nike of Samothrace became natural, symbolically featuring the transparency. The modern golden liquids and elements give the animation a sophisticated touch.
Music is the most important feature when it comes to a motion graphic, as it is highly connected with each movement. Using Music at the right moments of an animation will deliver a strong visual impact which is highly engaging.
