MoonRun – Developed by a Physiotherapist - by Jonathan Hoffman - Inventor
Beyond MoonRun’s portability, exciting apps and reasonable price, it provides compelling physical solutions to multiple health/exercise issues:
Deleterious Body Impact
Not many will dispute that regular aerobic training like running is a lifeline to health. In addition to cardiovascular training, the locomotion system also requires regular doses of functional ground-impact to stimulate healthy growth and prevent osteoporosis. This requirement is no problem for people who are strong, flexible and lightweight enough to run regularly without getting injured. However, for people who are weaker, injured or heavy this natural formula is a catch-22 situation resulting in: ether compromise on healthy impact (Elliptical, Cycling or swimming); or a compromise on the impact and the aerobic exercise (Walking); or refraining completely from regular exercise.
MoonRun provides a very effective solution to deleterious over-impact by providing a physical uplift, due to the upward-directed elastic resistance. Unlike running outside or on a treadmill in which the impact increases with speed, MoonRun’s uplifting forces increase as the running speed increases, so the impact remains positive and healthy regardless of the running speed and cardiovascular effort. Due to the physical uplift during exercise, MoonRun rehab users can start healthy workouts earlier and safely push harder faster.
Lactic Acid Accumulation
When performing a prolonged and monotonous physical activity like long distance running, even for the most trained it is just a question of time before lactic acid accumulates in the muscles and loss of power occurs. This phenomenon might be manifested in events like the legendary “wall” or recurrent shin splints.
The MoonRun solution is unassuming yet natural and very effective. Simply turn around and continue running in reverse while not compromising on the cardiovascular workout. The sensors continue to collect and transfer the data to running apps so result or performance is not affected. However, in the new direction fresh muscles are used and the lactate-saturated muscles have a chance to disperse the uncomfortable acid and refresh themselves. Eventually, fatigue will creep in in this direction too, so it is time to turn around to the pervious direction again. Again, you will notice the fresh muscles and feel the new energy.
It is therefore recommended while MoonRunning to simply turn around and have a fresh start whenever discomfort or pain kicks in, as many times as required. The result is no compromise on cardiovascular workout, no pain or discomfort while training, natural recovery from injury and better results.
Full-body Balanced Aerobic Workout
While MoonRunning with the arm bands, the body receives a balanced resistance from 5 points – the four limbs (periphery) as well as the pelvis (center). Because the exercise resistance is directional, with frequent turning around and direction changes during the session a unique balanced full-body exercise effect is provided.
Natural Running
Even though MoonRunning is not the same as running outside or on a treadmill, it uses natural running elements such as landing on the balls of the foot, stabilizing the body and then “shooting” the tilted body forward by rapidly extending the hip and knee and flexing the ankle of the grounded leg. The main mechanical difference between MoonRunning and running outside is the MoonRun bar which physically restrains users from propelling themselves forward. Otherwise, they would.
