We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to work for our client in a fully office-based role in Middlesbrough.
Working week is 38 hours Monday to Friday however with expectation of extended working when required to complete fast paced shutdown and installation work schedules.

The Mechanical Engineer will be experienced working on COMAH/high hazard sites and within chemical and manufacturing systems including process piping, vessels and tanks.
Responsibilities will include:
- Supporting plant maintenance teams providing daily technical support
- Maintaining compliance with COMAH, PUWER and PSSR of site assets, company standards and UK legislation
- Reporting to the Mechanical Group Lead and mentoring junior staff
- Meeting customer quality, regulatory and cross contamination prevention standards
- Maintaining site asset list and recommending CAPEX repair or replacement
- Deploying maintenance strategies using recognised techniques in operational plant areas, as Engineering Team Specialist
- Completing root cause analysis to identify equipment failures and manage safety and equipment lifecycle
- Improving project reliably using data analysis
- Participating in HAZOP studies when introducing new products
- Championing processes to deliver improved equipment
- Liaising with stakeholders as the owner of work scopes through to completion
Qualifications and experience:
- Mechanical Engineering or relevant bachelor’s degree
- Experience in project execution
- Experience providing maintenance support to production operations
- Experience specifying high hazard process streams equipment in line with regulations
- A sound understanding of associated codes, legislation and pressure systems
