MEATLESS MEAT... the ULTIMATE OXYMORON...

MEATLESS MEAT... the ULTIMATE OXYMORON...

OK... so, let's rile up the vegans, et al, and kick the chair out from under the manufacturers and purveyors of "Meatless MEAT"... starting with the OBVIOUS oxymoronic concept...

IF YOU ARE AGAINST EATING MEAT, WHY MAKE IT LOOK AND TASTE, EVEN BLEED LIKE MEAT ???? WTF ???? (and, it's only $25 per pound... lmao)

According to Dr. Linda Shiue, Director of Culinary Medicine at Kaiser Permanente in San Francisco, “Aside from the possibility that eating meatless burgers might help people reduce their consumption of red meat, I don't consider meatless burgers to be a health food per se, as they are a highly processed food.” NO, TELL ME IT AIN'T SO, Doc...

Now, let's address the "ingredients" in these moronic "foodstuffs"...

Impossible Burger

"Water, Soy Protein Concentrate, Coconut Oil, Sunflower Oil, Natural Flavors, 2% or less of: Potato Protein, Methylcellulose, Yeast Extract, Cultured Dextrose, Food Starch Modified, Soy Leghemoglobin, Salt, Soy Protein Isolate, Mixed Tocopherols (Vitamin E), Zinc Gluconate, Thiamine Hydrochloride (Vitamin B1), Sodium Ascorbate (Vitamin C), Niacin, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride (Vitamin B6), Riboflavin (Vitamin B2), Vitamin B12."

BEYOND BURGER

"Water, Pea Protein Isolate, Expeller-Pressed Canola Oil, Refined Coconut Oil, Rice Protein, Natural Flavors, Cocoa Butter, Mung Bean Protein, Methylcellulose, Potato Starch, Apple Extract, Salt, Potassium Chloride, Vinegar, Lemon Juice Concentrate, Sunflower Lecithin, Pomegranate Fruit Powder, Beet Juice Extract (for color)"

Do some research on these "ingredients", I'm "limited" here on LinkedIn.... (note that the companies are careful in not mentioning any more information than they have to... such as the FORM of B12, Methylcobalamin (ok) vs Cyanocobalamin (toxic), or that B-12 COMES from animal sources, unless made in the lab)

Lol I love this article. I am not a pure vegetarian I’d like to be plant-based but I will at least some meat. I have a phobia with the look of meat. Any meat I eat must be already cooked I never have I or will I tried fake burgers unless they are made of vegetables. I agree about the fake meat that bleeds. Isn’t that hypocritical because most real vegetarians are anti-animal eating. I got this way about a year and a half ago after one of our hurricanes. I’m not sure why. I will say that plant-based has helped me drop 65 pounds without feeling deprived. I also cut the carbs and sugar and processed. One thing I noticed plant-based did Wes begin to flatten my stomach or as women referred to it as the pouch. Downside is I think I will have a skin issue there where are deflated. However there is a definite difference. I am very sensitive to hormones and wonder if that was part of the cure. Processed carbs are a killer to me. I do not feel well and I definitely blow in the abdomen when I eat them and it happens fast. Becoming this way His made me pay more attention to my body. I have at least 80 pounds to lose and still will never be a Barbie doll. I hit a plateau so now walk and swim I want to be healthy. I am 67
