Meat traceability - It is not the same as tracing eggs in a carton! Solution Providers required [Part 2]
Theme Articles: Part 1(Innovation Challenge and Background), Part 2 (development plan), Part 3 (draft funding application), and Part 4 (recent traceability market study).
In Part 1 we threw out a challenge to tackle just one part of the traceability needs for Australian red meat processing. Our aim with Part 1 was to encourage debate, and attract new providers to AMPC's solution provider pool and ultimately new providers for Australian meat processing companies to engage with.
Although AMPC is now in discussion with many providers (domestic and global) who have reached out to continue to add to the solutions in this area, AMPC is still keen to hear from other providers.
The lead image and the PowerPoint below, is a draft development program for this area of traceability. We are seeking submissions for Stage 2, and expect all submission providers will have reviewed current solution provider offerings and past R&D in this area.
Note: we are not after proposals from providers that address any other area of traceability along the supply chain, just the component of linking cost-effectively and robustly, primals to steaks, which may not be processed from primals to steaks within an Australian processing facility. In a later call-out, we will be asking for ideas tracing bovine/ovine carcases to primals, within Australian boning rooms.
About AMPC
AMPC is an industry body that facilitates industry and researchers/providers in undertaking/adopting innovation and R&D for the Australian red meat processing sector. We do this by having access to an industry levy (aka an industry tax) and matching Aust. Fed. Govt. R&D funds (50% from the Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment - The Hon. David Littleproud MP & Andrew Metcalfe AO). We invest in others undertaking R&D. Note we do not undertake any of the R&D ourselves.
- Think of AMPC as innovation investment managers (without taking equity).
