Madrid, 19 October 2022 - The presentation of the 5th edition of Meat Attraction, which will take place from 6 to 8 March 2023 at the exhibition centre, was held today at IFEMA MADRID. With the participation of José Miguel Herrero, Managing Director of the MAPA Food Industry, Salomé Martínez, Deputy Director of the ICEX Food Industry, María José Sánchez, Director of the fair, and Miguel Huerta, General Secretary of ANICE -The National Meat Processing Industries Association of Spain-, the main novelties for the next edition were presented.
?
During her speech, María José Sánchez confirmed that Meat Attraction will be held every two years "in response to its determined support for the strategic needs of the meat production and commercialisation and the meat product sectors, as well as related industry."
?
This unique and specialised event for the meat industry is expected to attract 400 exhibitors and 20,000 professionals from 50 countries. Furthermore, with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, ICEX, all the meat interprofessionals and other associations, Meat Attraction is projected as a fundamental instrument for the internationalisation of the industry, and the tool to position Spain and its meat industries as one of the main international hubs for the commercialisation of meat products.
?
In this call, "tailored to different company profiles", adds the director of the fair, specific actions will be carried out to attract national buyers on a massive scale. On the one hand, Distrimeat will pledge its special commitment to meat industry distribution companies in a meeting with local and regional chains from all over the country. On the other hand, there is The Butcher's Shop, the exhibition area of solutions and innovations for the specialisation of butchers and charcutiers. Likewise, it will coincide with Hip, the largest event aimed at the hotel, restaurant and catering channel.?
?
In addition, Meat Attraction's strategic objectives include offering participants a platform for international promotion and expansion. To this end, it places all of its tools at the disposal of the industry, from the International Guest Programme, which attracts buyers from all over the world to the fair at the suggestion of exhibiting companies, to the well-established and prestigious B2Meat meetings with major buyers from priority countries, and the initiative Guest Importing Countries, with the UK and South Korea on this occasion.
?
Salomé Martínez, from ICEX, the driving force behind the buyers' programme, confirms that "the next edition will attract more than 50 buyers, who will need to extend their stay so that they can get to know Spain's production areas". A statement that José Miguel Herrero, Managing Director of the MAPA Food Industry, particularly defends, adding that "the Spanish meat industry and Meat Attraction have all the superior qualities needed to become one of the best industry fairs in the world and also to be able to show the excellence of our productions."

Innovation, continues María José Sánchez, "will once again be one of the cornerstones of Meat Attraction 2023, highlighting all the industry's innovations, the pillars of a modern industry adapted to new consumer profiles". In this sense, the Innovation Hub area will be the space that will bring together the best products and services of the participating exhibitors. Likewise, the Innovation Hub Awards will once again recognise the most innovative proposals.
?
As usual, Meat Attraction will once again become a knowledge centre for the industry with an intense and powerful programme of technical conferences, in Innova Forum and Meat Attraction Forum, with the participation of renowned professionals from the industry.?
?
It will also host Factoría Chef, a unique setting that promotes producers and highlights the quality and excellence of meat products, as well as the consumption possibilities they offer within the hotel, restaurant and catering channel.
?
For his part, Miguel Huerta, General Secretary of ANICE, stressed the need for Meat Attraction to be held at this very serious moment for the meat industry. "Costs are suffocating companies, which is why in the current economic climate it is more necessary than ever to hold the most important fair in the meat industry, which in its fifth edition has consolidated itself as its strongest event."
?
He adds that "the huge increase in production costs (energy, raw materials and other supplies) is leading to tremendous wear and tear on operators, to the indebtedness of companies, together with the disappearance of their commercial margins, endangering nothing less than the survival of their businesses." In this sense, ANICE agrees with FIAB that this is the time to help companies and not the time to hinder them.?
?
To this end, the secretary called on the authorities to implement effective policies and measures to correct the situation and reiterated that "we are lacking an industrial policy that could support companies and correct costs and regulatory policies.” In this scenario, he confirms, "Meat Attraction shines as one of the few important opportunities that companies have within their reach to strengthen their activity, find new clients and open up other markets."
?
Meat Attraction is co-organised by IFEMA MADRID and its strategic partner for this sector, ANICE, and has the support of the interprofessional organisations of the livestock-meat chain, INTERPORC, PROVACUNO, INTEROVIC, INTERCUN, ASICI and AVIANZA, as well as the most representative sectoral associations, such as ANAFRIC and AGEMCEX.
