Measuring that Matters

There are no easy solutions for the many challenges that rural American faces, but what is clear is that rural communities themselves must drive change and transformation. Local people must set the priorities and determine what constitutes success and do so in ways that build networks inclusive of marginalized people.?

?That is the main thrust of Aspen Community Strategies Group’s new report, “What (and Who) Counts? Defining Rural Success”. It features Shanna Ratner and three other well-respected rural development practitioners’ distinct perspectives on how we can better define rural development success.

?Give it a read, and let the Aspen Institute Community Strategies Group know what you’re thinking about how measurement can more accurately capture the learning and growth happening in rural and Indigenous communities! https://www.aspeninstitute.org/publications/what-and-who-counts-defining-rural-economic-success/
