Measuring the level on the Thames
Radar measures and controls over short range of 50mm preventing overflow of waste water, with foam, scum and build up

Measuring the level on the Thames

As well as radars monitoring the level OF the river Thames from greater London to Southend, a VEGA 80 GHz radar is now providing a valuable job of measuring and controlling level in an intermediate 'grey water' tank on a passenger cruiser ON the Thames. Operating over a range of only 500mm, this non contact technology is replacing float switches, which were unreliable due to foam, build up and contamination, thus causing the grey water to overflow into the boat. Since installing the radar sensor the pump control is now reliable and stops the overflows and clean ups that were previously needed.
