A MEASURED ACTION IS BETTER THAN 100 DAISY PETALS!
Plucking the daisy petals off is not the best option to measure results.
No daisy could replace your own effort. In order to realize your wishes, you definitely need something more than the chance to catch the last “it works” petal.
Flukes exist, however the harsh truth is that if you want to reach something, you need to work hard and to measure your steps forward.
“Reaching something” and “reaching something in the best way as possible” are two completely different concepts. You can pick all the daisies up, waiting for the best luck… or you can leave the flowers there, deciding to measure your results toward your goal, differently and concretely.
Measuring results usually generates awareness and awareness could bring good advice in deciding for the following steps.
What’s the best way to measure results then? It can be summarized in 3 simple steps
1. Identifying the most important Key Performance Indicator
2. Setting challenging and realistic Targets
3. Analyzing Behaviors and Figures
The outcome of this process is always the adjustment of your action plans according to the results, being flexible in order to reach the desired target.
My piece of advice is to use Key Performance Indicators as a tool to develop yourself and not only as a tool to control data. Let’s use the data to develop new strategies and, consequently, new behaviors and plans for a better performance.
It depends on you to establish what kind of return of investment is the most adequate for you.
However, the first step is just one, as Peter Drucker, an Austrian author, said “if you can’t measure it, you can’t manage it”…. And if you can’t manage it, you cannot improve it as well.
So, never wait for the right daisy petal.
