Last year, I was fortunate to have the opportunity to live in Europe (Amsterdam). It was a wonderful experience and made me love Europe even more than I had previously. One of the benefits of Europe is that everything is so close together. This means that it is easy to visit many different cities and experience many different cultures.
As an analytics geek, being in Europe meant that I could attend a lot of different MeasureCamp events! If you aren't familiar with MeasureCamp, it is an "un-conference" that takes place in a city on a Saturday in which anyone can attend (for free) and present on any topic of interest. No pre-set agenda, no sales pitches. Just a bunch of folks who care so much about their digital analytics craft that they are willing to do it on their day off. In 2023, I had the pleasure of attending MeasureCamps in Amsterdam, Paris, Copenhagen, Warsaw and Dubai.
MeasureCamp started in Europe (London) when Peter O'Neil was frustrated with other conference formats and annoyed at how difficult it was to get a speaking slot at them. So he decided to start his own conference! Now it's the largest conference/community in the digital analytics industry with events taking place all across the globe (154 MeasureCamps have taken place as of today). In Europe, it's common for MeasureCamp events to sell out of tickets in under one minute! That's how popular they are! Attending MeasureCamp helps you see what is top of mind in our industry and what trends you need to be on the lookout for... And it helps you build an amazing network of analytics peers.
When I moved back to the United States, I wanted to see if we could get MeasureCamp to be as popular here as it is outside of the US. In the US, there have been MeasureCamps in San Francisco, Cincinnati, Columbus, and recently in Austin and New York. In September, I am helping organize the first-ever Chicago MeasureCamp . I have been a bit disappointed with the adoption of MeasureCamp in the US. I think if people in the US had the opportunity to see how amazing these events are in Europe and beyond, they would want to replicate this here in the US.

So my plea to you is to use the link below and come to the Chicago MeasureCamp and experience it for yourself. While a large percent of the attendees will be local to Chicago, anyone from any city is welcome to attend. We may even have some surprise VIP attendees! The weather should be good, Chicago is an amazing city, we have amazing sponsors , and a great venue in the heart of the city. We'll have famous Chicago style pizza and the Cubs are in town so you can go to the best ballpark in the country on Friday or Sunday !
Please register for a Chicago MeasureCamp ticket and see if you can share this with a few others in the industry or at your organization. Thanks!

6 个月Welcome to the MC organizers club Adam! I hope that it is as an amazing experience for you as it has been for me since organising the first MC Copenhagen event in 2017! It does come with some challenges and stress but totally worth the pain! Let me know if you want to catch up for some of my best tips. We do hope to see you back in Europe soon!

6 个月Traditionally, people saw the #DigitalAnalyticsAssociation as mostly a US thing and #MeasureCamp a European thing. There has been some overlap. I was a member of the Web Analytics Association for a year, I rejoined a few years later when it was the DAA. Jim Sterne, of course did that as well, and may I say, with more panache. I bet that most, if not all, MeasureCamp organisers in the US also belonged to a local DAA chapter. Both communities have been very synergistic and with the DAA stopping after 20 years. Where a DAA chapter exists, but no MeasureCamp yet, you'll see a MeasureCamp starting sooner or later.
