Measure Twice Cut Once
I politely suggest that Canada has a unique opportunity to learn a valuable lesson from what is happening south of our now closely watched border. I also suggest, as appears to be happening, that we move from the WHY of things and embrace the WHAT.
We Canadians can sometimes get carried away with asking why (or assigning blame). Certain theme songs, slogans, or dog whistles can turn into an incessant whine that typically does nothing more than entrench opposing perspectives. While our 4 Nations win was amazing, we're nowhere close to finding our way out of these perplexing woods [CAN/US Trade]. I strongly suggest that we've gotta up our game!
I'm a huge believer in the value of the "5 Whys" for root-cause analysis but in times of crisis or chaos situational awareness is far more important. As we enter the next phase of our own political drama we need to get really clear on WTF we are doing, as a NATION. What now! What's the plan? What matters most? Do we really understand what's at stake?
While many Canadians can actually handle a chainsaw, we've come to realize that measuring and thinking twice is wise advice. There could be a silver lining in not moving too quickly and taking time to understand second and third-order effects. Likewise, now's the time to ask WHO has what it's gonna take to deal with whatever we might be faced with...
It's times like these you learn to live again. It's times like these you give and give again. It's times like these you learn to love again. It's times like these time and time again. Lyrics - (c) Foo Fighters
