Measure morale
Last weekend I got a message from a client.?
She told me that she was shutting her computer for two weeks to go on family vacation.?
She’d been wanting to take some meaningful time off with her family in the summer for YEARS.?
And, finally, felt ready to do it.?
She said our work together had helped her prep her systems, get all her processes documented for her teammates and really get confident that folks knew what to do while she was out.?
Honestly, I was so excited to hear her message.?
The hope in her voice.?
Something we don’t often measure in business is morale.
We measure lots of other things.?
And reward hard work.
Staying late.
Putting in the extra time and effort.
But how often are we rewarding people for knowing their own boundaries?
Knowing when to say no.
What if we started rewarding and encouraging people to measure how much time they were able to spend with their family this year.?
How many soccer games they attended.
How many vacation days they took without letting other areas of their performance suffer.
Morale is a metric.?
The more our team grows at Operations Agency…
And the more companies who hire me to come in and support them with their ops…
The more I realize…
The most successful companies…
The highest performing teams…
Are happy ones.
And though you may not be able to show up to the bank with a bag of smiles.
Your clients see those and trust you with their dollars.
Other teammates see those and want to stay with your company.?
Partners and vendors see those and refer you to their friends.
Morale is a metric.?
Hold it close.
