Meaningful Tuesday

How is everybody doing?
Does anybody need anything?
Supplies are easier to get; however, getting them seems to be more interesting. I like going shopping. I enjoy cooking, so finding items to make meals is fun. It is the retired bartender in me. It is creating something greater than the sum of its parts.
What I miss right now is the fun of conversation while shopping. I like starting conversations with people as I am shopping. It adds a little variety to my life. Conversations have dropped off since our COVID-19 journey. Beginning May 1st, in Illinois, it will be required for us to wear a mask or at least cover your face. Now all I see are eyes. The eyes of uncertainty. The eyes of people operating on information viewed through their model of the world.
What I mean is:
People that are usually anxious are more anxious.
People that are frustrated are more frustrated.
People that have faith are having their faith tested.
Optimistic people are also having their optimism tested.
If it wasn't apparent to me before, we lived in a society that has valued two needs more than anything:
Certainty
Significance
Social media is a great place to learn about people. You can learn a lot about people when they are comfortable behind their computers. My Social Media Family posts a lot of interesting stuff. Some of the things I agree with and some of them I do not agree with.
I am not going to go into the details. What I am going to write is I understand how you feel.
I feel: Frustrated, Confused, Uncertain
I also feel: Optimistic, Hopeful, Certain
What I am going to write is before you post, take the time to think about this. Is your post going to:
Bring people together?
Make people smile?
Help someone through a challenging time?
Serve the greater good?
I write this because right now, at this time in history, we all need to work together. Not everyone is going to feel the same way about COVID-19. Not everyone is going to think that the decisions leadership is making is going to be the best approach.
What matters most to me is, are you a positive example to follow, or are you a warning for others.
Be kind to yourself and to each other.
