Around October of last year I broadcast a series of 3 live videos around the topic of desire and how to create from our desires. I'll shortly be uploading them to my YouTube channel (Energy Transformations), so do look them up.
The online dictionary defines desire as "a strong feeling of wanting to have something or wishing for something to happen". For me, this definition glosses over something very significant and profound. Desire propels us, it urges us to have more, to expand, to evolve, to reproduce. Desire is part of our humanness. It is a core component of our energetic blueprint. It is Universal energy. In Hinduism, the Sanskrit word for desire or longing is Kama. Kama is regarded as an integral part of creation and of life-force energy. In fact, the Rig Veda says that without desire, there would be nothing.
Desire ultimately comes from our imagination. And imagination, as Neville Goddard would claim, is God within. So Desire is a God-given gift. It's an incredibly powerful emotion and the precursor to creating a more abundant, expansive life. Even a strong desire for more money has spiritual relevance. As Wallace D Wattles states in his Science of Getting Rich (Chapter 1):
"WHATEVER may be said in praise of poverty, the fact remains that it is not possible to live a really complete or successful life unless one is rich. No man can rise to his greatest possible height in talent or soul development unless he has plenty of money; for to unfold the soul and to develop talent he must have many things to use, and he cannot have these things unless he has money to buy them with."
Desire is the fuel that ignites our dreams and aspirations. It helps catapult us forward: it helps us take certain risks, to step out into the unknown. It provides inspiration and energy.
The stronger the desire, the less likely we are to shrink back into our cocoon of comfort when the going gets tough and the greater the chance of realising our goals.
As the popular saying from Eric Thomas goes,
When you want to succeed as bad as you want to breathe, then you will be successful.”
According to Mr George Davison:
“Nothing happens without establishing a deep desire inside of you. Your first quest should be to understand yourself and what you desire to accomplish”

Desire has to be founded on having a single, powerful "why" and is the most important step when choosing a path for yourself, especially if you're embarking on the entrepreneurial journey. It will be the driving force behind your business and behind your goals. Desire is a compass that keeps you going in the direction of your purpose.
But desire does not keep burning by itself. You have to constantly feed it with enthusiasm and passion and a willingness to not let rejection and failure extinguish its fire. Without desire there is no hope, there is no goal, there is no spirit, there is no flame.
This is my story of desire....
And so now I serve others as a therapist, coach and mentor.
My biggest why is to have freedom: the freedom to do as I choose, the freedom to make a lasting and positive impact on others and the freedom to have the perfect work-life balance.
What is your story of desire?
Do you have a strong and burning desire? A desire to succeed? To have a more meaningful life? To create more wealth? To experience more love? And what is the "why" that underpins your desire? Please do share in the comments! I'd love to hear your story.
