ME and the next 100 years July 12th – July 30th 2017 at Ava Gallery, Helsinki Finland
Vernissage July 11th 2017 at 6-8 pm Welcome!
The theme of the exhibition is Me and the next 100 years.
Finland's centenary year has been an inspiration for the theme of the summer exhibition. The title of the exhibition deliberately provoke the artist to break away from the retrospective point of view, history and the past reviewing starting point. The exhibition blows the artists into the time-space where momentum is meaningful, not a moment in time. And the moments to come alike exist there.
The exhibition therefore does not deal with a timely or historically defined time, but each artist has studied the theme from his own subjective perspectives, ignoring the chronological definition of time defined by the society. Therefore, the images do not convey the lofty history known to everyone, but the meaning implied with the timeless moments.
The works of the exhibition reveal a temporal continuum in which the past, the present and the future are equally important as creators of the moment, and equally true. When entering at the exhibition, the viewer starts a subjective time travel. The look view a moment in the picture, which has a unique and immense importance. The viewer and a work of art will meet there and thus create a new perspective on our lives and its most important moments without the importance created by time.
Visual artist Maarit Bj?rkman-V?liahdet has gathered the group of artists to the Ava Gallery's summer exhibition.
