Me & My Bike - Gina Cohen

Hey Gina! First up, can you tell us a bit about your role at Rapha?

I started at Rapha in summer 2021, as General Manager in our flagship store in Soho, London. We have an amazing retail space and cafe, welcoming cyclists from all over the world every week, it’s amazing! I came from the world of luxury retail so it was a bit daunting at first but the community is so welcoming and I’ve loved getting to know everyone, both colleagues and customers!?

And how about your wheels??

have a couple of bikes but my favourite and “go to” is my VanMoof S3. I’ve had it for a couple of years and absolutely love it. It is so much fun to use for exploring London and such a great way to get about! So many people stop me and ask about it, I’m constantly talking about how great it is, I’d encourage everyone to try one.

So, how did you get into cycling?

I got into cycling for commuting, I hated taking public transport and was looking for a way to have some headspace at the start and end of the work day. In the last couple of years I have started exploring a bit further with my bike and have tried some road and gravel riding too. The best thing about working at Rapha is that you are surrounded by passionate cyclists and I’ve had loads of encouragement to try new styles of riding.?

What would you say is one of your favourite cycling memories??

I’d have to say that the time I spent cycling during lockdown is probably one of my favourite memories. It was amazing. I used it as a way to get some exercise and to get out of the house, experiencing empty roads in the city was just fantastic and addictive, it would be great if they were always this quiet!

And finally, your favourite Rapha product and why?

I have two favourites. I love our Merino Base Layers. I’m always cold so these are a must have in the winter for commuting. I also love our commuter leggings, they are so incredibly comfortable and it's great having the pocket on the leg for my phone, I think I have all the colours now!

I live in Australia and have had endless problems with your products. Your Customer Service team is impossible to communicate with and don’t reply to emails and you don’t have a phone number !!!!!! Spend more time getting your Customer Service in order before showing off with your bike.

Great to read Gina Cohen, and more proof that every kinds of bike, especially city bikes, are welcome in the pedalling community ?? As you mention, the headspace and freedom bikes provides is unmatched by public transport…and the fitness gains are a fun outcome of #activetravel ?? See you down the Clubhouse again soon ??
